membrookMem Bourke
Event Creator & Director

Through dedication and a passion for her craft, to an artist of world acclaim Mem continues to be at the forefront of an art form growing in worldwide popularity.

Traveling strengthened Mem’s desire to assimilate local cultures especially the art the indigenous people adorned themselves with, in often primitive, but always artistic ways.  Mem settled back in New Zealand after completing her journey in 1993.  She became a Classical Homoeopath, now practicing for 13 years and located in Takapuna.

Mem’s other accomplishments encompass Diplomas in Event Management and Special Effects makeup for film and television.  Mem has won many awards for Body Art, including winning the Body Art section of Westfield Style Pasifika 2004.

She is an experienced coordinator of special events and recently completed the Arts Venture Programme for creative entrepreneurs. She took part in the business development initiative along with six other entrepreneurs from across the Auckland region.

Her enthusiasm and passion for art and culture lends her to being a pro-active leader in this field driving her to bring awareness, enjoyment and knowledge of body art to all of New Zealand.

2007 & 2008 extending her horizons she competed internationally in the World Festival of Body Painting Austria, Germany and Korea. She currently holds 6th place in the World Asian Award for Face Painting and 20th in the World Asian Award for Brush and Sponge. She also ranks 55 in the World Awards for brush and sponge.

Mem holds a Guinness World Record for the painstaking feat of applying the most rhinestones to a body (31,680).

The passionate New Zealander believes that through providing a forum to recognize and reward New Zealand body artists, more young people will consider the art form as a viable career option.  She also sees the NZ Body Art Awards as a chance to celebrate the wealth of talented artists her country has.
